MATCHING ENVELOPE
-
Please include coordinating designs for both the recipient address (front of envelope) and the return address (back flap).
- Choose fonts that complement your design and/or coordinate with the front. Keep the default names & addresses, which are used to test character limits:
- Due to postal regulations, please adhere to the following:
- Do not use a script font for the sender or recipient address. For sender or recipient names, a script font is okay. Please have these names on one line only.
- Be mindful of font sizes & colors. Postal entities will “return to sender” when text is too small or too light for legibility. We require that the font is at least two points larger than the minimum requirement on envelopes.
- Ensure your design is legible on all envelope types (white, kraft & silver): light colored text or design elements can sometimes look okay on white backgrounds, but when they are applied to Kraft or Silver envelopes, they can be hard to see or look muddy. It's best to tend towards darkening elements on envelope designs to ensure visibility.
-
Keep in mind that all fonts used for addresses should be at least 2 points above the minimum size. This minimum is in place to make sure that your envelopes are accepted by the post office. Small text can be illegible to the machines used to sort the mail and can cause your cards to be rejected and returned to the sender.
- Avoid using large blocks of color in your design, as well as light pastel colors, as these do not render well when printed. Please also avoid using large areas of texture, as these have the potential to come across as a printing error.
- Do not slant or rotate any editable name/address text on your envelope.
