We are not able to have ligatures/glyphs in our customizer, as it turns off any special characters and there is no way for customers to select specific ligature flourishes. Text that are using the ligatures/glyphs either needs to be left outlined (meaning they will not be editable, but instead moveable objects), or everything in the Character Panel must be turned off for the text to remain editable.
Here is a deeper explanation into the difference between a character and a glyph, and what should be toggled off in your Character panels (screenshots using Illustrator Version 25.4.1).
A character is typically a standard letter used in a font when typing through the type tool in Illustrator or Photoshop. These characters don't have any inherent special qualities (such as ligatures, fancy swashes, etc.). The standard characters will often be found at the beginning of the Glyphs panel with "Entire Font" selected.
A glyph is any alternate version of a standard letter (including symbols, letters outside of the standard 26-letter Latin alphabet, numbers outside of 0-9, etc.). In the Glyphs panel, you will find a selection of letters that may contain inherent special qualities (such as ligatures, fancy swashes, etc.) separate from the standard letters. You can find them by going through the Entire Font list or selecting specific sets in the dropdown list (shown below, I am searching for all alternate versions of my current selection using the font "Restgold").
Note: If you would like to keep glyphs in your design and make them moveable objects, customers will have the option to leave a note in the customizer for a Minted Design Assistant to help them place the glyphs correctly in their design.
In regards to toggling off any options that may get a little funky with our customizer, you will want to check a few things. First, check the OpenType panel for any options that might be turned on (if they are on, you will see a darker square indicating that it is active). If they are greyed out, this means the font you are using does not have these options (shown below). Second, you will want to ensure selections to toggle All Caps, Small Caps, Superscript, etc. are also off (this can be found in the Characters panel by clicking on the three dots, also shown below).
