Our Merchandising Operations team has noticed some color discrepancies between the files that artists submit and what the team is seeing on our end. After further investigation, we've discovered that the root cause of the issue was a recent Adobe bug that causes color profiles in Illustrator to reset to "Emulate Adobe Illustrator 6.0" as Adobe Photoshop versions are updated, even if preferred color settings are applied in Illustrator.
Adobe is working on a fix for this bug on their end, but in the meantime our team has identified a workaround for artists to use for their files:
- Lower your Photoshop version from 22.3 to 22.2 by following these steps.
- Update your Illustrator color settings to “U.S. Web Uncoated v2” in the Color Settings dialog box (find this by going to Edit > Color Settings). Additionally, make sure Illustrator is set to CMYK color mode by going to File > Document Color Mode > CMYK Color.
- Tweak your artwork’s color settings to match your winning submission as closely as possible (if still needed).
We’ll also continue to work with artists whose files are affected by this bug individually via email. Please email files@minted.com if you are having issues with this color bug!
