TIN validation is a process of verifying that that the combination of Tax Identification Number (TIN), which is either a Social Security Number (SSN) or business Employer Identification Number (EIN) and Legal Name for the TIN matches IRS database. Payoneer validates the information entered in the tax forms against IRS database before the tax form is allowed to be submitted.
If you are getting an error message due to tax ID validation, please follow the steps below:
- Please re-check the information entered carefully. If you are filling out the tax form as an individual, the tax form needs to have your full legal name under the "Name" field and your Social Security Number that agrees to your prior year tax return. If you are filling out the tax form as a taxable entity, please enter the business name under "Name" field and your business Employer Identification Number (EIN) that agrees to your prior year tax return of the business. TIP: Please check the combination of legal names and tax IDs against prior year filed tax returns. See this FAQ for additional guidance of filling out the form for disregarded entities.
- If you are still getting an error, please contact Payoneer Support. To ensure that the Payoneer team can effectively assist you, please have the following available prior to your call: a) screenshot of the information you are trying to enter; b) screenshot of the error message; c) PDF copy of your completed W-9; and/or c) your business EIN certificate showing the combination of your business name and EIN. You may be required to provide those in order for the team to resolve your error.
