While Minted Challenge timelines vary depending on the size, type, and seasonality of the challenge, we’ve detailed our normal challenge process below. We break the challenge timeline down into 4 periods:
- Submission: For most challenges, the submission period typically remains open for 2-5 weeks. We also occasionally host quickfire challenge, for which the submission period can be as short as one week.
- Critique and voting: Almost all challenges will have a critique period, during which time community members can provide feedback to one another and edit their submissions. The critique period begins as soon as the submission deadline for a challenge passes, and typically lasts from 24-36 hours. Voting begins immediately after the critique period has ended. The voting period then generally lasts about 1-4 weeks, but in the case of quickfire challenges, can be as short as a few days. Due to these variations, we recommend always making sure to check our challenge announcement emails where we announce the length of the critique period and voting deadline for each challenge!
- Winners Announcement: We aim to announce the top picks for each challenge within the month following the end of the voting period. It may take an additional few weeks to determine special prize winners and editor's picks - a lot of careful thought and deliberation goes into those decisions!
- File Submission/Launch: When one of your designs is chosen as a challenge winner, you’ll receive a file request email with instructions on submitting your design. We typically request final files within a couple weeks of the winners announcement for each challenge.* We generally ask that your files are submitted within 2 weeks after we send the request, but occasionally need to shorten the timeline to ensure that your work can be launched on time. Once we receive your files, your design will launch on our site within a few weeks to months, depending on the volume of the assortment and others that are being launched concurrently. Please see this FAQ section for more information about the file request and submission process.
*Please note that file requests for holiday and wedding challenges are a bit different, as these challenges are hidden from the site after voting closes for competitive reasons. Submissions to holiday and wedding challenges won’t be visible while the challenges are hidden, but not to worry, all submissions are saved and will be visible as soon as the collection launches. For holiday challenges, we request final files before publicly announcing the challenge winners in order to ensure that all products are launched in a timely manner.
