How does the Minted Greeting Card Challenge work?


Unlike other Minted Challenges, there will be two parts to this Challenge:



Submission: When the Challenge first opens, we’ll ask all writers (and artists who also enjoy writing) to submit writing (copy) for greeting cards to Part I of this Challenge. The submission deadline for Part I is March 31, 2017, at 10am PT. Please do not hide your submissions in this Challenge, we want everyone to see your copy so that it can be used by artists in the second phase of this challenge.

There will not be a critique period during Part I of this Challenge. We encourage you to engage with other writers and artists to give and receive feedback by participating in polls and leaving comments on others’ work during the submission period. You can edit your copy during the submission period, but we recommend submitting a new entry if you’re making significant changes to your copy. After the submission deadline, all submitted copy will be considered final and all original copy (not generic or available in the public domain) will be made available to artists in Part II of the Challenge.



Submission: The submission period for Part II will begin on April 13, 2017 All original copy submitted to Part I of the Challenge will be available to artists to use to create complete designs. If artists have a full idea (design and original copy that was not submitted in Part I), they are welcome to submit this to Part II. Artists can also submit a request to repurpose an existing design for sale as a greeting card. The submission deadline for Part II is May 5, 2017, at 10am PT.

Critique: After the Part II submission deadline, there will be a 48-hour Critique Period during which writers and artists can participate in design polls, give and receive feedback from other community members, and edit their submissions. The Critique Period will end on May 8, at 10am PT.

Voting: Once the Critique Period ends, the voting period begins. All members of the Minted community, writers, artists, and consumers, are welcome to vote on Part II submissions in this Challenge and will rate each design on a scale of 1-5. Voting will close on May 19, 2017, at 10am PT. Once voting closes, Minted will tally up the scores -- top-placed submissions are determined by voting scores and Minted’s editorial council will also choose additional winners and award Editors’ Picks.

Winners Announcement: We will announce Challenge winners through email, on the Challenge page and at the National Stationery Show in New York City on May 21, 2017! Minted plans to sell these winning designs at large retailers nationwide and at small boutiques through Minted Wholesale. Minted will also sell these designs on and at our retail store in San Francisco. Top winners will have their work featured at Minted’s booth at the National Stationery Show in New York in May 2017.
